Our Service

Participants can get a special education in the following fields:

Housing and Free Time

Group activities & free-time activities & weekend activities

All participants who have applied to join the shared housing project live in co-educational dorms (that is, girls and boys). They receive special care from social workers and from professional trainers.

Training Housing

In general, this "full time" care program aims at providing the young participants with practical knowledge and skills so that they become more confident in mastering their every day life within a society.

Having the young participants grow up in a social environment, we believe this is a great chance for them to become more independent in their daily routines.

"Half time" Housing

Following the "full time" housing project, we also offer a "half time" housing project: The youngsters are being prepared and taught- according to their present skills and interests - to lead their lives as independently as possible.

Group activities & free-time activities & weekend activities

During their time at the ABZ the youngsters receive special training which is meant to enable them to lead as much of an independent life as possible. Thus, the institution's major goal is to successfully integrate its participants into the labour market as well as into society.

At the ABZ we have breakfast and dinner together in groups. Twice a week participates have to join a compulsory program in the evening: one evening is spent together with the group in order to strengthen the sense of unity with the others. The other evening participants build groups in which they can pursue a common interest. Of course, the youngsters are encouraged to organize events themselves as well.

The training is closely related to real life activities and includes teaching certain skills to manage every day life situations, such as hygiene, tidiness, politeness, cooking, doing the laundry, ironing, creatively designing and furnishing their closer environment, and much more... Additionally the program offers a huge variety of activities; these include the followings: exercises to balance out aggression, relaxation exercises, group dynamics, approaches to conflict management, role plays and planning and arranging celebrations.

Furthermore, participants receive all the necessary information on issues such as sexuality, AIDS, first aid, racisms, equality of treatment and various forms of addiction.

A gym and an indoor swimming pool are included into the housing area. Also, we offer a great variety of other sport activities.

Supporting and developing individual skills to help integration.

Following the ideal of an overall education, we give our best to cater to the individual needs of our participants. With the help of various programs we strive to provide the best support for our participants' future career. Also, we try to communicate the importance of being able to acquire skills to become more independent. If necessary, we can also provide psychological support.

We offer the following sevices:

Assistance provided in learning a trade

According the present apprenticeship law (BAG) professional assistance (BAS) has to be provided in order to offer a good education and to eventually achieve integration into society.

The following tasks and duties are included into the BAG:

Tutors and learning assistance

We strive to provide our participants with an extensive consulting service and support service when they are ready to start working in their jobs. The only precondition is that the young people are able to take over responsibility and are enthusiastic to integrate into a new society. We seek for the suitable internships together with our participants. This is a great chance to gain more experiences - on the personal as well as on the occupational level.

We give our best in coordinating the various institutions (e.g. AMS, local authorities and social institutions).

Social Work:

Social work helps the process of developing skills on a personal basis: learning how to solve problems, and managing every day life situations. Therefore, it is necessary to coordinate all the involved institutions, the materials provided, and individual care in order to make integration a success.

Medical Service

The young participants are in need of individual medical care. Parents often hand over responsibility to the institution, especially, when their children live in the dorms.
Under the term 'medical care' we understand the coordination of the entire service, immediate measures to respond to injuries at the work place, as well as health care and managing insurance matters.

Psychological Service

Two top priority goals are: social integration and finding a suitable job for our participants. In order to achieve them, it is necessary to list all the individual problems and all the resources available before even entering psychological service.

As a matter of fact, it is an essential task to continuously evaluate the situation and the progress. Therefore, we come up with hypotheses (what do our participants need, lack and desire) and try to question them together and falsify them if the situation has changed over time.

Diagnostics, consultation as well mediation are three aspects of the area of responsibility of the team of our psychologists.  We also put emphasis on the areas of teaching problem solving skills (personal and social), and planning preventative measures; of course, we always take the social environment of the participants into consideration.
